Amos was working as a shepherd and dresser of sycamore tress under the reign of King Jeroboam II (786-746) when he was suddenly overwhelmed by the voice of God and called to be a prophet.
Amos appears smitten by God’s mighty voice. He did not hear a whisper or a still small voice, but a voice like a lion roaring that drives shepherd and flock into panic. There seems to be an impression that Amos was minding his own business as a shepherd and dresser of sycamore and suddenly the voice of God thundered and he is awakened to his calling. Just like Amos, individuals all over the earth who work everyday jobs, are being called into various ministry capacities because they have heard the Lion of Judah roar. Start listening now!
